Not Earning a Living then Why Work

You are supposed to work for a living but if you are not earning a living, then why work?

The covid policies and lockdowns changed the way people assessed what a "living" was and whether a job was worth it or not.

"Essential" workers worked through the pandemic at high risk with little protection and no hazard pay and were still treated like garbage while "non-essential" workers stayed safe at home, on the couch, collecting decent pay from the government. When the covid "vaccines" came out and the lockdown restrictions were lifted many "essential" workers lost their jobs.

"Essential" worker or "non-essential" worker, who was the greater fool?

Remote learning exposed the depravities the public school systems are indoctrinating kids with. Some parents didn't go back to paid work but instead began to do the work of a stay-at-home parent and educator.

Which "work" is more rewarding, more beneficial to the community, and more important in life?

Work/life balance; the bargain between labor and wages; what the government, employers, and society deem the value of workers to be versus what the workers are willing to endure, tolerate, and do.

All of this, from the workers' point of view, is being evaluated and reassessed a lot more.

So again, you are supposed to work for a living but if you are not earning a living, then why work?

My Blog is Still Here - for Now

Considering the content I have in my blog, thus far, and considering that Alphabet/Google is providing the platform for it, I'm a little surprised that my blog hasn't been cast into the dust-bin of digital oblivion.

After Trump was elected President in 2016, big tech went insane.

The insanity of big tech (and a large portion of the populace) only got worse as evident after Biden took office and the Covid Pandemic was unleashed.

Once in a while I'd login to my blog, expecting to receive a stern warning about my wrong-think, misinformation, disinformation or whatever was ordained heresy against "the narrative".

Despite not receiving such, I was still intimidated and did not post.

Recently I had a realization — its just a blog.

If Google nukes it, so what?

If anything it would confirm that big tech does not allow free speech.

It would also mean that my blog is, somehow, significant enough to bother getting rid of. Even if it is done with a single keystroke or by an automated algorithmic system, somebody had to have at least made an effort, at some point, to zap blogs like mine.

Reading through my old posts was like opening a time capsule into the events back then and what was on my mind at the time. Now I regret not posting all these past years because some really interesting stuff to write about during that time.

So once again I shall afflict the Internet with my prattle and see if my obscure blog gets scrubbed out of existence because of my opinions and for questioning things.

Russia Hacks - USA Hacks - Everybody Hacks

So the main stream media, politicians, and butt-hurt Democrats are still making a big stink about Russia hacking emails that may have influenced the election.

Do you hear or read anything from any of them about the US getting caught, red-handed, hacking German Chancellor, Angel Merkel's phone back in 2013?

Yup, the good ol' U.S. of A had been hacking the leader of Germany's phone for over a decade. And don't be so naive to think the US was only hacking Germany's leaders' stuff. American spies and their agencies are probably still hacking other countries' computers and phones.

Everybody is hacking everybody.

Oh. Gee. What a shocker - not.

This current round of hubris, blustering, and hypocrisy is due to the timing being during the US elections.

Here's another thing - Russia may not have been the ones who leaked the emails.

Hillary Clinton had snubbed the agencies responsible for securing US officials' computer systems by using multiple, private, unsecured, servers so she could sell state secrets and favors in exchange for large donations to the Clinton Foundation. So the leaks could very well have come from within the US's own agencies. Hillary Clinton, as president, would have been a greater security threat than any hackers so the emails were leaked to make sure she was unelectable.

In this day and age of the Internet, hacking is an unfortunate reality. The US's feigned outrage only serves to keep its credibility in the gutter.

Cashless Cataclysm

In a cashless society, people would be financially held captive as slaves. No freedom to "vote with their dollars" because they no longer have control of their own money, the earnings of their diligence and labor.

Even if it is a cryptocurrency, the management of the digital currency is still conducted online.

The Internet was first and foremost created as a communications tool for the military.

Not enough of society is tech savvy to find ways around government check-points and blocks of the financial activities on the Internet.

As a result, a black markets of barter or commodity based transactions will grow.

Since such activity can not be directly monitored and controlled by the government or the controlling entities, those who participate in such tangible transactions will be considered criminals and economic terrorists.

This in turn will result in more incarcerations. Private prisons are one of the largest and most lucrative industries in America.

Once imprisoned, many rights and civil liberties are stripped away from the prisoner.

Prisoners are legal slaves.

Slavery is very good for maximizing profit margins.

A cashless society will promote greater tyranny and slavery until the people have reached their breaking point.

Civil war is the next step.

Well, that's my two digital cents.

Disposable Employers

Employers view employees as disposable garbage; I wonder how long it will be until employees look at employers as disposable?

Think about it...

During this global economic depression, bosses have taken delight in reminding their employees of just how disposable the workers are.

"You don't like it!? Then quit. There's five million illegals that will do your job for less."

America is crumbling into unstable, part-time, minimum-wage, temporary jobs.

These jobs pay the same, most come with zero benefits, and workers have to depend on welfare just to survive.

So why stick around?

Jobs are coming back but most of them are coming back as part-time, minimum-wage, temporary jobs with no benefits.

So why stay in a miserable, part-time job working for a jerk of a boss?

There are millions other dead-end jobs out there; some of the bosses may even be decent enough to work for.

Eventually workers are going to figure this out and will begin treating employers as disposable.

Craftsmanship Forsaken

Craftsmanship takes time to achieve the skills and knowledge to create beautiful things.

Craftsmanship takes time and care to create quality things.

Craftsmanship enhanced our world with the creativity and care taken.

So much is wrong with the world today because craftsmanship has been forsaken by people in favor of junk from places like Wal-Mart, obsessed with the mass production of that junk, and dependent upon the labor of slaves.

Employers Encourage Welfare

Musings

If employers could, they would pay their employees nothing.

Employers say the employee is not worth paying a livable wage or the job is not worth paying a livable wage,... yet the job still needs to be done.

Since the employee isn't paid a livable wage, they depend on welfare to make up the difference.

Food stamps.

Subsidized housing.

Subsidized utilities.

Subsidized-everything that a living wage would have otherwise paid for.

So by not paying employees a livable wage, employers are encouraging welfare.

Welfare improves the businesses' profits because the cost of wages is spread-out among tax payers.

Since welfare boosts business profits, business taxes should go up to support the many millions of underpaid employees on welfare.

Economic Slow-Motion Train Wreck - Amtrak

This morning I saw an Amtrak train pass by with only three or four cars between 2 engines.

I don't know how Amtrak has been faring these past few years but I get the feeling, by only seeing so few cars sandwiched between two engines, that the cross-country passenger train business isn't doing very well. Considering Amtrak is pretty much the only cross-country passenger train business things must be really bad.

The Mom and Pop Corporation

When most people here the word "corporation" they think of giants like Microsoft and GM. There are many corporations in the US that are literally tiny "Mom and Pop" shops.

I have a different view on corporations. I don't see them all as gargantuan evil empires (most corporations are but not all). My peculiar view on corporations is due to the fact that my parents own a corporation.

A very small corporation.

The corporation my parents own has no employees. It's just Mom, Dad and two spoiled cats.

For over thirty years Mom has worked a full time job because the corporation usually doesn't make enough to support itself let alone provide a living for Mom and Dad.

They keep the corporation, even though Dad's business is a financial failure. Despite his considerable manual skills Dad is unemployable because of his age and because he lacks formal training and fancy, high priced, college degrees.

They also keep the corporation because it provides some tax and legal protection.

No, Mom and Dad aren't doing anything illegal. A corporation is basically just a legal document that changes how you are taxed and protects your personal stuff from being taken in a lawsuit.

If anyone tries to sue the business, and wins, they can only take what the business owns. They can't touch Mom and Dad's house, anything Mom and Dad bought with their own money nor can they garnish Mom's wages.

If I had any assets worth protecting I'd start a corporation for myself.

Why is Gold the Standard for Money

Dollars. iPads. Gold.

You can't eat dollars or iPads and you can't eat gold.

Well, actually... some people do eat gold.

Huh. Maybe they also ate lead-based paint chips when they were kids.

Back to the post topic...

You can trade dollars for a hamburger at McDonalds.

You might be able to trade an iPad for several hamburgers at McDonalds (if you're trading with one of the better paid higher-ups).

You won't be able to trade gold for a hamburger at McDonalds. Most people working at McDonalds (and most people in America, for that matter) don't understand the value of gold as wealth protection nor the purchasing power of gold.

Why is gold worth anything anyway?

After all it's just another metal that's dug out of the ground. Right?

The answer lies in history.

Lots of history.

Over two thousand years of history.

I'm talking before the Bible, before the ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks.

For thousands of years gold has been accepted, all over the known, civilized world, as a form of currency; as a medium of trade.

I say "known, civilized world" because over thousands of years man discovered more and more unknown parts of the world (known versus the unknown and undiscovered) and because the less civilized parts of the world valued other things more highly than gold. (Imagine trading your iPad for fur pelts and a mate.)

No one, single, government, nation, or people made gold important or valuable. But, strangely enough, the majority of people in all the corners of the known, civilized world, considered gold to be important and valuable. Some traded with it; others fought wars over it.

So gold, a shiny yellow metal dug up from the ground, is valuable and universally accepted as currency just because that's the way it's been for thousands of years.

Now other things are considered valuable and are used in trade but none have had the universal acceptance for so many thousands of years as gold has.

Who knows, maybe in the future something else will become more valued than gold. What ever it is, gold already has a head start of a couple thousand years of proven acceptance.
