What Have the Republicans Been Doing

What have the Republicans been doing these past six years?

Republicans are telling us about all the things they are going to do when they gain majority of the House, and maybe the Senate, after the mid-term elections.

When Trump was in office the Democrats were in the minority yet they were able to thwart and stymie the President.

What were the Republicans doing then?

Why did they allow the Democrats to have their way?

Why can't the Republicans thwart and stymie Biden like the Democrats did to Trump?

Based on their record of the past six years, why should we believe the Republicans will do anything after the mid-terms?

America needs the Democrats to be voted out of power and needs the Republicans to actually serve America.

No Faith in Either Party

If Republicans stoop to Democrats' level to win, then how can we trust that Repulicans won't stoop to Democrats' level of running things?

What the Democrats have done to this country is unforgivable. America needs to vote the Democrats out of power.

Voting Republican is the only viable way to oust the Democrats.

Just voting Republican, however, is not the solution. Politicians are disingenuous and self-serving no matter what party they are associated with.

America needs to vote the Democrats out down to the last Democrat, to keep Republicans under intense scrutiny so as to replace them as soon as they show any sign of going insane like the Democrats, and to hold Republicans to account for any harm they inflict on America.

Not Earning a Living then Why Work

You are supposed to work for a living but if you are not earning a living, then why work?

The covid policies and lockdowns changed the way people assessed what a "living" was and whether a job was worth it or not.

"Essential" workers worked through the pandemic at high risk with little protection and no hazard pay and were still treated like garbage while "non-essential" workers stayed safe at home, on the couch, collecting decent pay from the government. When the covid "vaccines" came out and the lockdown restrictions were lifted many "essential" workers lost their jobs.

"Essential" worker or "non-essential" worker, who was the greater fool?

Remote learning exposed the depravities the public school systems are indoctrinating kids with. Some parents didn't go back to paid work but instead began to do the work of a stay-at-home parent and educator.

Which "work" is more rewarding, more beneficial to the community, and more important in life?

Work/life balance; the bargain between labor and wages; what the government, employers, and society deem the value of workers to be versus what the workers are willing to endure, tolerate, and do.

All of this, from the workers' point of view, is being evaluated and reassessed a lot more.

So again, you are supposed to work for a living but if you are not earning a living, then why work?

Plastic Lid Razor Rest

Concerned that I might ding the edges of the razor blades as I set the razor down between passes, I tried to come up with a way to protect blades.

After a bit of thought and a bit more of scrounging I found a simple, cheap, solution: a plastic lid to from a small jar of chicken bouillon cubes.

It's worked wonderfully for years with every razor in my collection.

The plastic lid isn't bothered by water, doesn't scratch or react to my razors, is very portable, and can be easily replaced (if ever).

I place the lid upside-down on the counter so my fingers can go inside past the rim to better grasp safety razors by the handle.

The lid's rim is just tall enough to keep safety razor's edge away from the counter surface. Pictured below is a Gillette "Fat Boy". Even the head of my largest safety razor, a Merkur "Vision", is held above the counter surface when placed on the lid.

The lid does the same for my straight razors and shavettes; though in a different way. Resting the spine of the razor across the lip of the lid, with the scales off to the side, keeps the razor's edge angled upward in the air, touching nothing. The rim of the lid is tall enough that I can easily get my fingers under the pin portion to safely pickup the razor.

The razor in the photos below is my Adoration Ax, 292 Giesen & Forsthoff, Solingen-Germany, (age unknown). I bought it at a local junk sto... erm,... purveyor of fine antiquities.

My Blog is Still Here - for Now

Considering the content I have in my blog, thus far, and considering that Alphabet/Google is providing the platform for it, I'm a little surprised that my blog hasn't been cast into the dust-bin of digital oblivion.

After Trump was elected President in 2016, big tech went insane.

The insanity of big tech (and a large portion of the populace) only got worse as evident after Biden took office and the Covid Pandemic was unleashed.

Once in a while I'd login to my blog, expecting to receive a stern warning about my wrong-think, misinformation, disinformation or whatever was ordained heresy against "the narrative".

Despite not receiving such, I was still intimidated and did not post.

Recently I had a realization — its just a blog.

If Google nukes it, so what?

If anything it would confirm that big tech does not allow free speech.

It would also mean that my blog is, somehow, significant enough to bother getting rid of. Even if it is done with a single keystroke or by an automated algorithmic system, somebody had to have at least made an effort, at some point, to zap blogs like mine.

Reading through my old posts was like opening a time capsule into the events back then and what was on my mind at the time. Now I regret not posting all these past years because some really interesting stuff to write about during that time.

So once again I shall afflict the Internet with my prattle and see if my obscure blog gets scrubbed out of existence because of my opinions and for questioning things.
